Who We Are / Our History

Aastha Welfare society, a Society registered under society registration Act (XXI), 1860, under registration No. 119/96 dated April 30th 1996 is an effort, rather a noble gesture with human out look. The establishment of the society is demonstrative reminder to the general public, especially to those committed to co- operate and support such noble duty that would enable the under privileged children to acquire knowledge skill and capability to be on their own and reduce their dependence on others, thereby leading an economically independent and socially dignified life in the normal manner.

“Aastha Welfare society” has created a few tremendous records through its school activities. Due to the activity being to forwarded by the school to serve in the remote villages of this hilly area has tremendously changed the social sphere of innocent and destitute handicapped and mentally challenged children people.
Aastha is a Non-government Organization (NGO) and its efforts are voluntary. It seeks to create awareness in the public for doing something concrete for the mentally challenged children. There are Govt. organizations at a number of places for this welfare work, for it is the duty of the Govt. to engage in welfare activities. Our democracy is committed to serve the society – higher priority is accorded to the poorest of the poor deprived and the under privileged, section of the society. Institution like “AASTHA” Supplement the Government efforts on voluntary basis.

OBJECTIVTIES:-
Aastha main objectivities are truly in consonance with the intention of the founders nobly conceived, on humanitarian consideration with firm conviction in action, to care for the mentally challenged children who have right to dignified living. Our objectives are:-

  • To conceive, plan and implement programs and impart education to the targeted children
  • To introduce innovative and scientifically developed latest techniques.
  • To develop general awareness in the public
  •  To give vocational training in different trades after carefully studying the aptitude level of the children.
  • To encourage the inmates/students in learning how to play various games, to get along with others (item spirit, sharing joys etc.) to arouse spirit of healthy competition, take responsibilities and to arouse the quality of leadership
  • To teach the children the rules on game, arouse spirit of healthy competition, and the thrill of healthy competition.
  • To teach upgraded skills aiming perfection in handicrafts to an able thereby to get them to self employment to teach tricks of trade, make capable of getting some kind of employment in private sector or to make eligible for government services at appropriate level.
  • To adopt medico-therapeutic route to rehabilitate the children, including restore to speech therapy.

 

THE SCHOOL:-
Keeping in view the said objectives.Aastha started a school at Nahan (H.P.) INDIA in a small premise, now functioning at M.C. Hall Near Post Office since August 2001, which has been functioning with the help of trained and devoted staff under the leadership of a qualified principal. Education is confirmed to primary standard for the time being. Economic independence is equally important goal set for the children.

Periodically I.Q. test are done to assess the progress. The school determines aptitude to put the children in appropriate line of activity for the development of required skill. There is regular search for identifying hobby for each child. Teaching skills are highly technical and a training job is done by the skilled staff with tenderness, perseverance and care. Progress in skill acquiring and mastering is periodically tested. Thus all the factors viz. Education Knowledge, skill and attitude to this way, sincere efforts are being made to make these children physically, economically independent, and confident.

The society aims to extend the activities to all over the Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas of Haryana and Uttaranchal states.

Aastha Special School working for CWSN (Children with Special need) since 1996 Aastha Special School provide counseling services in the field of disability in Nahan town and provide suggestions and support for people who are facing problems with their social activities or those who are confronting new situations. Our counselor provides encouragement or those who assessment, interaction etc. for disabled children’s parents from time to time. “Aastha Welfare society” has created a few tremendous records through its school activities.
